UHMWPE

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) is an engineering plastic with a molecular weight over 1.5 million. The advantages of UHMW-PE includes: abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, non-toxic, self-lubricating, resistance to stress, etc. While it can operate continuously between -269℃ to +80℃, it is considered one of the most versatile engineering plastic. 

 

UHMW-PE is used in agricultural and mining trailers, silos, chute boards, etc. Due to its self-lubricating and non-stick properties, UHMW-PE transportation line allows materials passing through without any blockage. It can also be extruded into wear-resistant pipes for material handling, such as oil sands and slurry. Its service life can last as much as 3 times longer than steel pipes. 

 

UHMW-PE can also be spun into fibers. With its exceptional tensile strength, it is ideal for making protective clothing, cut-resistant gloves, and cut-resistant package, etc. It also has high thermal conductivity close to metal. Therefore, it gives a comfortable cool touch when used in linens and clothing.
 

UHMW-PE membrane is being used as separator in electric vehicle batteries. Its high strength and toughness made it highly effective in separating cathode and anode ions thus greatly improving the capacity and reliability of the battery.
 

With its excellent impact resistance performance and high tensile strength, UHMW-PE has its own application in the military sector, such as protective clothing, bulletproof clothing, shields, parachutes and helmets. UHMW-PE bulletproof materials have been Incorporated in many military equipment such as armored protective plates for tanks and ships, missile covers etc.
 

Taking advantage of its lightweight, UHMW-PE can be made into wingtip structure, spacecraft structure, and many other applications in aircrafts and aerospace industry.
 

Ropes, cables, sails and fishing gear made by UHMW-PE are widely used in marine engineering, super tankers, marine operating platforms, lighthouses, etc.
